It's not simply about aircraft and history, it's also about creating an interest in aviation. With the help of sponsors, OAM created an interactive play area at the front of the museum - open during regular museum hours and free.
Two replica aircraft let children experience sitting in a real plane. Young imaginations go wild as they guide their planes down the runway and up into the sky. Or they can spend time in the control tower and listen in real-time to air traffic controllers.
The Learn To Fly Interactive Area is just outside the main entrance and adjacent to the Oakland Aviation Museum Store and Gift Shop.
